Mylo Freeman

Mylo Freeman is of Dutch/American descent and grew up in The Hague. In Amsterdam she attended the Rietveldakademie where she graduated in illustration. After a short singing career and the birth of her eldest son, she resumed illustrating and started drawing for children. Her first picture book Potje! immediately received the Kiekenboekprijs. Mylo now has about 70 picture books to her name, including her series about the dark princess Arabella.

With these books she fills a much-needed niche, namely picture books with more diversity! Princess Arabella's character has not only led to 16 picture books, but also a puppet series, an app and a theater play. Mylo also gives workshops, lectures (bookable at the Writer's Center) and together with Maria Romijn gives musical performances based on her picture books. This under the name Mylo's Musical Picture Book!
